The beach packing list that fits in a carry-on

The 6-outfit rotation

Days 2–7 beach: 3 shorts + 4 t-shirts or sundresses + 1 linen button-up for men or nicer sundress for women = 6 daytime outfits. Sun protection — where most people fail

Do not buy this at a foreign pharmacy — it's 3x the price and labels are in a language you can't read.
Snorkel gear or rent?
Rent: $15/day × 3 days = $45. Buy: $45 for a decent mask + snorkel set (Cressi or US Divers), reusable for every trip. If you snorkel on more than 2 trips, buying pays off. Pack the mask in your carry-on (TSA allows). Skip fins — always rent those at destination. Ocean-safe tropical bug spray (Picaridin-based) works better than DEET on beaches because DEET damages swim gear and sunscreen.
Tech and entertainment
